At NAREB, we are more than just a trade organization; we are a movement dedicated to “promoting democracy in housing.” With local boards across the nation, we embrace a community of Black real estate professionals committed to advancing our mission. While our name highlights Real Estate Brokers, we proudly represent a wide range of disciplines within the industry. We invite professionals from all sectors of real estate to join us in our mission to enhance housing equity and access for everyone.
Our Path Forward
Our national goal is to unite minority professionals in real estate, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and innovative strategies to better serve our clients. We aim to cultivate an environment where creativity and innovation thrives, both in the workplace and in the marketplace.
Empowering Our Members
To effectively serve Black America, we offer extensive training and educational opportunities tailored to our members' needs. Our programs include certifications and special designations in various fields, ensuring our members are equipped with the skills necessary for success.
A Legacy of Advocacy
Founded in 1947, NAREB stands as the oldest minority professional trade association in the United States. Our inception was driven by the need for equal housing opportunities for all, regardless of race, creed, or color. Over the decades, we have actively engaged in critical advocacy and legislative efforts to promote fair housing and challenge systemic barriers.

The purpose of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers® is to enhance the professional and business conditions of NAREB® Realtist® members by strengthening the consumer capacity of Black, minority, and emerging target market segments that Realtists® serve. And by promoting the real estate industry in general, utilizing economic, political, legal, and social leverage to remediate disparate and discriminatory housing and property ownership policies and practices prevailing in the United States.
